Cavalry Continue Winning Ways with 6-2 Win

Cleburne, Texas – July 3, 2018 – The Cavalry continue to play their best soccer when it counts, as the club defeated FC Cleburne on the road 6-2. The win also keeps the Cavalry atop the Mid South Division as the 2018 season hits the home stretch.

The Cavalry were led tonight by Angel Paita, whose four goals and overall play on the field gave the Cavalry the quality needed to put on a strong road performance. The Cavalry began the scoring soon after the opening whistle, with Paita scoring in just the third minute. The Cavalry jumped to a 2-0 lead when Angel netted his second in the 12th minute. Paita shared some of the scoring load when his pass set up a goal from Marcelo Palomino to earn the assist and the Cavalry to go up 3-0. The first half hat trick was complete by Paita in the 33rd minute to put the Cavalry up 4-0. The resilient FC Cleburne side would not back down and would pull a goal closer in the 38th minute to end the first half scoring at 4-1.

The home side kept coming after the Cavalry and scored a second goal in the 51st goal to cut the Cavalry lead to 4-2. However, the Cavalry would answer back in the 58th minute, when Paita scored his fourth off a strong free kick that will be a goal of the year nominee for sure. The final score of the match came from Carlos Viveros, whose hard work was rewarded in the 70th minute and gave the Cavalry the 6-2 score.

The Cavalry continue their road trip on Friday, when  they take on Mid South Division rival, OKC Energy U23 at 4PM. The Cavalry will not return home until July 13th, when they take on Texas United at Travis Field.
