The scoring started in the 5th minute when Mason Shuster drilled a shot into the back of the net to take an early 1-0 lead. Soon after in the 9th minute, Billy Jones doubled the lead for the Cavalry with his scoring touch, the first of two goals that he would score in the first half. A pair of goals from forwards Brandon Guhl and Thomas Menke capped off the first half scoring and sent the Cavalry into their new locker rooms feeling good.

Even with the commanding five goal halftime lead, the Cavalry showed their resolve and did not take their foot off the gas, scoring goal number six in the 58th minute on the foot of Gianluca Natera. After the team scored their seventh unanswered goal when Christian Duarte scored in the 61st minute, the Cavalry were fouled inside the box and were awarded their first penalty kick of the night.
