Match Preview:USA ISL Oilers FC vs Cavalry FC

Bryan/College Station, Texas – May 19, 2018 – Brazos Valley Cavalry FC debuts in 2018 on Saturday, May 19th, when they take on USA ISL Oilers FC for a friendly at Travis Field. The match is scheduled to kick off at 7:30 p.m. CST and will be streamed live on Clutch TV.

Brazos Valley Cavalry FC enters their second season after finishing last year as the top Texas team in the PDL. Cavalry FC will look to improve upon a 3rd place divisional finish in PDL last season, as they look to compete for a Mid-South divisional title. The team will combine veteran leadership with youthful talent looking to take the next step in their professional development. The friendly will provide the team an opportunity to develop chemistry and prepare for a PDL season that carries with it high expectations for the club

USA ISL Oilers FC are, like Cavalry FC, a relatively new club who was completed their first season in 2017. The team was founded by Raul Arevola and will complete in the UPSL for the first time in 2018. Oilers FC is coached by Carlos Degracia, and will coach a diverse club in both nationality and experience. The club is made up of players who range from Matthew Herrera, who is 16 years old, to Jossue Hernandez, the oldest player for the club at 24 years of age. The club has 19 players native to Texas, and players from Columbia, Venezuela, Honduras, and Mexico also comprising the roster. The club will be captained by midfielder Leo Guevara, who along with goalkeeper Osumane Dragne, will seek to establish a possession dominant style of play that the Oilers need to experience success.

Saturday’s match will be the first all-time meeting between the two clubs. Fans are also encouraged to stay after the game to experience a fireworks spectacular.
